The Way to The Trio Program The Trio program is a program that is funded by Elgin Community College. Provides opportunities for academic development, help students with basic college requirements, and motivate students toward the successful completion of their postsecondary education. In the trio program a faculty member accepted to be interviewed the member was a manager for the Student Support Services their name was Steve Aguilar. Going deeper into what the trio is and what the program can do for students. The trio program has many great opportunities for students. All SSS projects must provide: academic tutoring, which include instruction in reading, writing, study skills, mathematics, science, and other subjects; advice and assistance in postsecondary course selection, assist student with information on both the full range of student financial aid programs, benefits and resources for locating public and private scholarships; and assistance in completing financial aid applications. Education or counseling services designed to improve the financial and economic literacy and assist students in applying for admission to graduate (student support services program) The trio SSS has many benefits but there are two the programs that have just as much. Trio Student Services/ English as a Second Language it s to encourage and assist traditionally underrepresented students in preparation for and completion of a college education. SSS/ESL also provides support to eligible students whose second language is English and are enrolled in mainstream college classes. Trio Upward Bound is also a program at ECC. UB is a college preparation program for high school students who are 1st generation college students. Is funded by the U.S. department of Education as well.
